Multicultural Health: Navigating the NDIS in Primary Care

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports Australians with disability, to access the information and services they need. A panel Q & A discussion will be facilitated based on a case study to help primary health care understand the NDIS process and their role in the NDIS within a multicultural context.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Discuss considerations when caring for patients from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background with a disability
  • Describe how to assist patients of CALD background to access and participate in the NDIS
  • Identify key resources available to support CALD patients and families with NDIS
  • Identify best practice processes that can facilitate culturally safe care.

Facilitator: Dr Margaret Kay, GP & Brisbane South PHN Multicultural Health Clinical lead

Panel members: National Disability Insurance Agency, Carers Queensland Local Area Coordination teams, Benevolent Society (Early Childhood Early Intervention) and AMPARO Advocacy.

Start: 6.30 pm

Finish: 8.30 pm

Cost: Free (Value $50pp) – meal provided.

This session will form an accredited activity under the RACGP QI&CPD Program.
